Monday, April 4, 2022

Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV M&O) and Korean Register (KR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at cooperation and relations to enhance competencies and capacity by sharing technologies, information, and experiences in the field of floating offshore wind farms in the East Sea of Republic of Korea.

The MoU will see both parties reinforce their collaborative efforts for floating offshore wind farm projects, and promote sustainable business opportunities, including offshore wind and renewable energy, Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore said.

"With BV’s experience in the development of floating wind projects in Europe, and that of the BV Research & Development and innovation teams, both parties can bring the most recent expertise and understanding of innovation to the project," Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore added.

Following this MoU signing ceremony, there will be further discussion between the two companies on potential future projects for cooperation.

Matthieu de Tugny, President, Bureau Veritas M&O, said: “The collaboration with the Korean Register will help enable us to meet our own sustainability ambitions working in offshore wind in Korea and supports our ambitions to shape a better maritime world. That means delivering for our clients, supporting our partners by working on projects - and that will motivate our people to support the ambitions of our changing society.”

Hyung Chul Lee, Chairman & CEO, Korean Register, said: “We at KR are very much aware that BV has the relevant technical background and know-how gained through the implementation of numerous projects in the Floating Offshore Wind Farm and KR in turn has diverse track records and network in the Korean Offshore industry. I am confident that two Societies will have synergy effect and subsequently lead to a successful outcome. I am pleased to say that mutual cooperation between KR and BV will also contribute to the Korean Government policy on Renewable Energy. "
