One Person Dies as Fire Breaks Out at Kuwait Oil Field Drilling Tower

Friday, June 12, 2020

A fire erupted at a drilling tower in Kuwait's northern Sabriyah oil field, killing one person and injuring another, state-owned Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) said in a statement on its twitter account on Thursday.

The incident, which happened early on Thursday, was due to the sudden combustion of gases while operating the drilling tower, KOC added. It did not say whether oil field operations had been impacted.

The company said that an investigation has been launched into the incident. (Reporting by Dahlia Nehme; Editing by Hugh Lawson)
