Ward Leonard WL29BC200 AC Induction Motor

Tuesday, July 2, 2019

The Ward Leonard WL29BC200 AC induction motor is the oil and gas industry’s only 2,000 horsepower motor designed to fit into a 1,500 horsepower motor package, according to its manufacturer.

At up to 19 inches smaller and 10% lighter than competing 2,000 HP motors, the motor allows for 33% more power density without the need to change existing frame sizes. Users will benefit from an increase in speed and performance without downtime and costly frame design changes. This high performance, high power density AC motor also features Ward Leonard’s proprietary intra-slot cooling technology to run cooler than other 2,000 HP motors. It’s designed to withstand high shock and vibration conditions, and with Certified Class H insulation, can handle any climate and hostile working environment. The WL29BC200 is ideally suited for mud pumps and drawworks, on or off-shore, and enables rigs to drill deeper, faster, and more efficiently while lowering total motor lifecycle costs.

The WL29BC200 has achieved ISO 9001:2015 and ABS certifications as well as ATEX and CSA approvals.
