Tennet has commissioned Arcadis and Pondera to carry out an environmental impact assessment (EIA) work and permit applications for grid infrastructure for the planned 4GW Ijmuiden Ver offshore wind farm.

Arcadis and Pondera said in a joint press release that the two subsea high-voltage connections will each have the capacity to bring  2GW of energy to land.

The financial details of the contract were not disclosed.

The 4GW Ijmuiden Ver is one of three sites identified by the Dutch government’s Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap 2030. The three sites have a combined capacity of 6.1GW and are expected to help the Netherlands reach the target of 11.5GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030.

The wind farms at the sites are expected to be commissioned between 2024 and 2030.
