Spanish manufacturing company Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has placed an order with Danish outfit Seasight Davits for 58 davit cranes for the SeaMade offshore wind farm in Belgium.

"As it is the first Siemens Gamesa order received, we are very excited and hopes it is the beginning of a continuing cooperation," the platform crane supplier for the international offshore wind industry said in a press release.

The davit cranes, which have been ordered with an outreach of 3,2 meters and a lifting capacity of 1 ton, are to be manufactured by Seasight Davits’ parent company, Hvide Sande Shipyard, Steel and Service, and the first batch is to be delivered at the beginning of April 2019.

The davit cranes, or platform cranes, are mounted on the offshore wind turbine platforms where they are used for hoisting and lowering tools, materials and other equipment from and to the supply boats.

Siemens Gamesa received the turbine order for the 487MW SeaMade offshore wind farm in December 2018. The project, comprising the 252MW Seastar and the 235MW Mermaid offshore wind projects, will feature 58 units of the SG 8.0-167 DD turbine.
