Kongstein, the European service provider focused at offshore engineering and maritime logistics, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with U.S.-based Green Shipping Line to provide a complete offshore wind farm supply solution in the United States.

Per the MoU, the solution provided will include consultancy services, a U.S. Jones Act compliant shuttle service as well as development opportunities at several U.S. ports.

"We are thrilled to be working with Kongstein – they are the best in the business in wind farm logistics and forward, creative thinking for complex issues," said Percy R. Pyne IV, Chairman of Green Shipping Line (GSL).  "Together we will create a complete, viable and economic solution for United States-based wind farms. I'm excited to be a part of this new, dynamic business in the United States."

Green Shipping Line has designs for U.S.-built feeders which are ready for construction at Moran Iron Works in Onaway, Michigan. These newly-built Jones Act-compliant vessels will offer reliable, economic and frequent transport from American ports to the various states' wind farm installations.

"We are proud to provide Norwegian maritime ingenuity and German efficiency in constructing and operation of offshore wind parks to America. Our partner, Green Shipping Line, has become known as a visionary innovator in the U.S. maritime industry – they are a great match and we look forward to our joint approach," said Thorsten Schütt, Chairman of the Board of Kongstein AS.

Kongstein, with office locations in Norway and Germany, designs green propulsion solutions for the maritime and renewables industries. It has been involved in every phase of the wind farm lifecycle, from early-stage wind farm planning all the way through decommissioning.
