New 3D Printing Service for Oil and Gas

A new additive manufacturing service aims to transform how parts are created and optimized, reducing supply chain risk, decreasing costs and boosting efficiencies for sectors such as oil and gas.

Advisian Digital, the data science, software and technology business of the WorleyParsons Group, and Aurora Labs, the industrial 3D printing (3DP) technology company, have teamed up to launch an end-to-end additive manufacturing (3DP) service called AdditiveNow. The joint venture offers a range of 3D printing capabilities including advisory, design and short-run agile manufacturing.

John Bolto, specialist adviser, at Advisian Digital said, “The successes of early adopters, coupled with the 3DP expertise and resources now becoming available, offers resource businesses a huge opportunity to revolutionize their operations.

“AdditiveNow gives companies the power to do just that,” he continued, “by making physical inventories, virtual ones – eradicating the need for surplus stock, reducing lengthy delivery times and ultimately reducing costs.”

AdditiveNow assists companies with manufacturing decisions to improve part efficiency, manufacturability and operability. Its offering includes an in-house, multi-discipline engineering team that can design and certify new parts including agile short-run metal printing. The partners said the service will be an end-to-end solution, from design and optimization for duty (not just reverse engineering) to production and deployment – tailored to customer needs.

“Aurora Labs’ latest printing technology, which will be available through AdditiveNow, is 10 times faster than conventional technologies,” Bolto said. “By harnessing our engineering and manufacturing expertise in a complete solution, we provide companies with the agility and confidence to embed additive manufacturing into their operations.”

AdditiveNow is working with DNV GL to make certified 3DP parts a reality and assure that components will perform as intended. The designs produced by AdditiveNow will form part of a broader online catalog to be developed by Aurora Labs.
