SafeSTS, which is owned by Future Marine Services, has made a strong start in the Middle East region, undertaking five UAE ship-to-ship transfers for two oil majors in its first six weeks of operation.
The charterers to conduct ship-to-ship transfers said that the first two transfers took place at the company’s Khor Fakkan “C” Anchorage, whilst the next three were at its Fujairah “S” Anchorage; both anchorages are in the Gulf of Oman and a total of nearly 2,334,000 barrels of oil were involved in the five operations.
The company is part of the SafeSTS international lightering company owned by Future Marine Services, and Captain Jagdeep Singh Sodhi is its Middle East Regional Director.
Jagdeep said: “The company was formed to support the growing demand for ship-to-ship transfers of the full range of petroleum products, and these first five operations involved Black FO, Crude Oil and Gas Oil."

Captain Jagdeep is also investigating the Indian subcontinent for any potential bases and partnerships. Since its inception in May 2010 the company has successfully conducted over 1900 STS operations transferring in excess of 460 million barrels of oil, it said.
