First LNG shipment from Ichthys project arrives in Japan

Tuesday, October 30, 2018

The first liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipment from the giant Ichthys project in Australia arrived at Inpex's Naoetsu LNG receiving terminal in northern Japan on Wednesday, the Japanese operator of the project said.

The LNG vessel Pacific Breeze departed the onshore liquefaction plant at the Ichthys LNG Terminal in Darwin on Oct. 22.

The shipment marks an important milestone for Inpex, which holds 62.245 percent of the Ichthys project. The $40 billion project has had multiple delays and significant cost overruns.
