The Russian government may introduce licenses for fuel exports to tackle possible shortages on the domestic market and cool down prices, a source familiar with a meeting between the government and oil producers said on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, the government held a meeting with the oil producers to discuss the current situation on the domestic fuel market as prices for gasoline and diesel have been on the rise.

The source said licensing is one of the measures to tackle those issues.
