Russia's Gazprom plans to start its export gas auctions from Sept. 17 for deliveries to Germany, Austria and Slovakia, Interfax news agency reported on Friday.

Gazprom began experimenting with auction sales a couple of years ago as a possible alternative to its usual system of selling through long-term oil price-linked contracts, as some clients started to demand at least partial spot pricing.
