Galloper Wind Farm Limited Ltd has awarded a contract to Granada Material Handling Ltd for service and maintenance of all 58 davit crane units installed on the 353MW project, 56 on wind turbine foundations and two on the offshore substation.

Situated 27km off the Suffolk coast, the Galloper Offshore Windfarm Limited (GOWL) already has one of Granada’s unique Python cranes fitted to each of the 56 wind turbine foundations, with another two on the OTM platforms.

"Building on the success of their 2016 contract to design, deliver and commission davit cranes for the GOWL project, Granada have now been awarded a contract to ensure all 58 cranes are serviced and maintained in accordance with current legislation and with Granada’s own original equipment supplier requirements," said a press statement.

Mark Sidwell, director of Granada Material Handling said: “We have forged an excellent relationship with the GOWL team and are happy to see that – from original design and commissioning through to service and maintenance – the company values the level of commitment from our engineers, which is very satisfying and reflects the expertise across Granada’s staff."

Mark added: "Within the offshore sector, it is particularly good to see an ongoing commitment to contracting through the UK supply chain, maximising the UK content of offshore windfarms – this new contract for Granada is a great example of that objective.”

To fulfil the GOWL service and maintenance contract, Granada will ensure their technicians are on-site, offshore, for service visits every six months.
