Russia, Syria ink energy cooperation agreement

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and Syrian Electricity Minister Mohammad Zuhair Kharboutli signed a "road map" agreement for cooperation in the energy sector, the Russian Energy Ministry said on Wednesday.
"The road map provides for the phased implementation of strategically important projects for the rehabilitation, modernisation and also construction of new energy facilities in Syria," the ministry said in a statement.
