Perth-headquartered ICON Engineering and Malaysia’s ENRA Group have formed a joint venture (JV) company, ENRA ICON, to deliver low-cost developments and brownfield enhancements in Asia.
Based in Kuala Lumpur, ENRA ICON will target undeveloped Asian oil and gas fields using ICON’s range of minimal facility, well head platforms, and self-installing production facilities.
The JV will also harness ENRA’s local knowledge, high-level networks and integrated services, including local fabrication for minimal facilities developments.
ICON said its SRIP design range for wellhead platforms provides significant reductions in EPCC cost by adopting standardization, plus significant reductions in offshore installation cost by utilizing relocatable suction piled foundations, rig-install options, and light weight.
"The very challenging low oil price environment presents opportunities for major oil players in Malaysia like Petronas, Hess, Repsol, Murphy, SK Energy etc., to re-think and re-calibrate their minds to look for unconventional solutions for conventional problems,” said Mazlin Junid, president and group CEO of ENRA.
“Our partnership with ICON Engineering is intended to bring forth to these players 'out of the box' ideas which ICON has successfully proven in its 20-year track record. We are excited about the prospects of changing mindsets to be nimble and effective in order to make oil and gas production profitable again."
