Lundin begins drilling Maligan offshore Malaysia

Lundin Malaysia has commenced drilling of the shallow water Maligan exploration well in Block SB307/SB308, offshore East Malaysia.

The Maligan prospect lies to the north of a major producing field, and will target hydrocarbons in Miocene aged sands.

Maligan will be drilled with the West Prospero jack-up rig to a total depth of approximately 1700m below mean sea level. The drilling of the well is expected to take approximately 30 days.

Lundin Malaysia (85%) operates Block SB307/SB308, with partner PETRONAS (15%). Lundin Malaysia also operates blocks PM307, PM319, PM308A, PM328, SB307/308 and SB303.
