The survey will take place at Block 127 and will cover a full-fold area of 533sq km.

Mitra will use CGG’s Amadeus research and survey vessel.

The PSC represents Mitra's first venture into frontier deepwater exploration in Vietnam. This survey will fulfill the company’s PSC Exploration Phase One extension 3D seismic survey acquisition commitment of 500 full-fold sq km, Mitra said.

The survey is expected to complete in about 21 days.

Block 127 activities are focused on the unexplored deepwater, eastern half of the block. Mitra velieve there is significant hydrocarbon potential in the area, associated with a thick, Tertiary age sedimentary section.

In 2012, a full-fold area of 4015sq km of 2D seismic data was acquired. According to Mitra, the pre-stack time migration processing of the 2D seismic data was completed in February 2013 and resulted in the identification of three prospects and six leads with a combined gross unrisked prospective resources of 1.3 billion boe (Pmean) to 3 billion boe (P10).

Mitra operates the PSC with 100% interest.
