This week, the two companies met to address issues of the bilateral cooperation in joint activities located in Blocks 129-132 on the continental shelf of Vietnam and scheduled the drilling of Block 129 in 2H 2015.

Exploration activities will be operated by Vietgazprom, the joint operating company of Gazprom and PetroVietnam, in Blocks 112, 129, 130, 131, 132.

According to Gazprom, geological and geophysical data was processed and hydrologic studies were completed at the drilling sites. Block 29 will be the first deepwater well offshore Vietnam with the sea depth exceeding 1600m at the drilling sites.

Last month, Gazprom Neft and PetroVietnam signed a series of agreements to extend their collaboration efforts on the Pechora Sea shelf, offshore Russia. In addition, the two companies signed a deal outlining key provisions of an agreement allowing Gazprom Neft to acquire a share in the Vietnamese Dung Quat refinery onshore Vietnam.
