SKE finds gas off Malaysia

August 29, 2014

SapuraKencana Petroleum (SKE) found a gross gas column in excess of 600m within the SK408 production sharing contract (PSC) area, offshore Malaysia.

Located in Bakong-1, the gas found, is located in the primary target reservoir within the Late Miocene Carbonates.

The SK408 Block is located in shallow waters approximately 120km offshore Sarawak covering an area of approximately 4480sq km in the prolific Central Luconia Gas Province.

The find follows four non-associated natural gas well discoveries made on 9 June 2014.

Bakong-1 is the fifth and final well in SKE’s 2014 drilling campaign within the SK408 PSC area.

SKE is the operator with a 40% interest with partners Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. (30%) and Sarawak Shell Bhd. (30%).
