Arabian Gulf OBC surveys

February 1, 2010

Saudi Aramco has awarded Argas, a CGGVeritas and Taqa 49:51 joint venture, two major ocean bottom cable 3D data acquisition contracts in the Arabian Gulf valued at $375 million.

An 18 month survey is scheduled to commence mid-2010 and a 24 month survey in the 3Q, each contract with an optional extension period of, respectively, 18 and 24 months.

The projects will cover an initial 6000km2 in complex environments, such as producing oil fields and busy shipping lanes within the Saudi waters of the Gulf in depths ranging from 20-60m, utilising the latest Sercel SeaRay 4C equipment and recording systems.
